Southcoast Surgeons Using the da Vinci Surgical System
A number of Southcoast urologists are currently using the da Vinci system to perform radical prostatectomies.
David Chan-Yeol Bae, MD
Dr. Bae earned his undergraduate degree at Brown University where he also earned a Master's Degree in Neurobiology and a Medical Degree from Brown University Medical School.
He completed a residency in Urology at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, R.I., where he also completed a research fellowship in Urology and Men's Health.
He has specialized training in laparoscopic urological surgery including extensive training with the da Vinci Surgical System.

John Carroll, MD
Dr. Carroll earned his undergraduate degree from Boston College and a Medical Degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. He completed an internship and residencies in Surgery and Urology at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston, where he served as chief resident in Urology.
He has special interest and expertise in urologic oncology, urolithiasis and pediatric urology. He has extensive experience in laparoscopic urology procedures.
He is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Urology at Tufts University School of Medicine, where he has received an "Excellence in Teaching" award.
He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology and a member of the American Urological Association.

Derek Hausladen, MD
Dr. Hausladen received his undergraduate degree at Yale University and his medical degree at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He completed his general surgery training and residency training in Urology at Yale University School of Medicine where he also served as the Chief Resident in Urology.
Dr. Hausladen pioneered laparoscopy in urological surgery at St. Luke's Hospital, performing the first laparoscopic nephrectomy and laparoscopic partial nephrectomy at Southcoast Hospitals.
Additionally he has introduced numerous new procedures to the South Coast area in the treatment of incontinence and benign prostatic disease. His practice includes the treatment of benign and malignant prostatic disease, urological malignancies, renal disorders including stones, urinary incontinence, infertility and pediatric disorders of the urinary tract.
Dr. Hausladen is board-certified in Urology and is a diplomat of the American Board of Urology. He is a member of the American Urological Association, the American Association of Clinical Urologists and the Endourological Society.

Dennis LaRock, MD
Dr. LaRock received his undergraduate degree from Boston University and earned his Medical Degree from the Boston University School of Medicine. He completed a general surgery internship and a residency in Urology at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston.
He has extensive experience in laparoscopic surgery and has introduced a number of new urological procedures in the Greater Fall River area, including prostate brachytherapy. He has also done research on cryosurgical ablation for prostate cancer. He is an Assistant Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine, where he has received several "Excellence in Teaching" awards.
He is board certified in Urology and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology. He is also a member of the American Urological Association, the Massachusetts Association of Practicing Urologists and the Boston Urological Society.

Paul Milhoua, MD
Dr. Milhoua received his undergraduate degree at Columbia University and earned his medical degree at the State University of New York, Downstate College of Medicine. He completed his internship in General Surgery and residency in Urology at Montefiore Medical Center in New York where he also served as Chief Resident in Urology. He completed a fellowship in Endourology/Laparoscopy/Robotics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.
Dr. Milhoua's training in Endourology, a sub-specialty of Urology, allows him to perform operative procedures for a wide variety of urologic problems involving the kidney, ureter, bladder, prostate and urinary stones using advanced instrumentation in a minimally invasive manner. These include laparoscopic adrenalectomy; laparoscopic partial and radical nephrectomy; laparoscopic renal cryoablation; laparoscopic renal cyst decortication; laparoscopic nephroureterectomy; laparoscopic pyeloplasty; percutaneous stone surgery, and robotic radical prostatectomy.
