Cover Your Cough

Watch the video, "Why Don't We Do It In Our Sleeves?" about safe sneezing

Serious respiratory illnesses like influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), whooping cough and severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) are spread by coughing or sneezing and unclean hands.

To help stop the spread of germs:

  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.

  • If you don't have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve, not your hands.

  • Put your used tissue in the waste basket.

  • Clean your hands after coughing or sneezing — wash with soap and water or clean with alcohol-based hand cleaner.
